Building community within a classroom is proven to be an important part of the learning process. Students who are not comfortable with the classroom, teacher, teaching, or peers will have a difficult time succeeding to their full potential. Building a great classroom community starts the first day of the school year and continues until the last. Routine is important. Teamwork is important. Understanding each other's learning needs is important. All of these help to build community. Students who feel safe, valued, and engaged will not only learn more for themselves, but also for those dreaded SOL's! Please feel free to check out any of the resources on this page to help build community within your own classroom.
